Water Standpipes

Maranoa Regional Council operates reticulated water networks in the towns of Amby, Injune, Jackson, Mitchell, Muckadilla, Mungallala, Roma, Surat, Wallumbilla and Yuleba.

The water mains span a length of over 218 kilometres.

  • Water is available through a number of standpipes across the region. Potable water (drinking quality) can be purchased from standpipes at:

    • Roma – 192 Currey Street
    • Surat – Outside the Council Depot on Alexander Street
    • Injune – Injune Rodeo Grounds
    • Mitchell – Oxford Street at the Bore Reserve
    • Wallumbilla – 65 Burke Street

Please note: The Wallumbilla Standpipe has a soft cap on water usage, allowing up to 100-200 kilolitres per day to avoid strain on the infrastructure.

  • If you use the Maranoa Regional Council Potable Water Facility at 192-230 Currey Street, please be aware of the following key details:

    Connection and Equipment Requirements:

The facility’s connection points feature Dn100mm (4 inch) male camlock fittings. Users are responsible for providing any additional fittings or hoses required to connect between the camlock fitting and the item they are filling.

    • Pressure: The available pressure is limited to 150Kpa (1.5 Bar) to protect and prolong the life of the plastic outlet pipes.
    • Flow Rate: The facility provides an average flow rate of 1000-1500 Liters per minute.

    First-Time Users:

    • If this is your first time using the facility, please contact Maranoa Regional Council at 1300 007 662 or email us at council@maranoa.qld.gov.au before attempting to use the facility.

    Biosecurity Reminder:

Under the Queensland Biosecurity Act 2014, individuals have an obligation to take practical measures to prevent the spread of invasive plants, pests and diseases.

Cleaning vehicles and machinery at wash down locations when moving between different areas helps reduce the risk of contamination from invasive plant seeds or soil-borne pests.

  • Council offers two types of Avdata keys that provide access to water and wash down services:

    • Standpipe Key – For access to potable water at standpipe locations.
    • Wash Down Key – For vehicle or machinery wash down services.

How to Access Water and Wash Down Services:

    • To use either the wash down or standpipe services, you must first obtain an Avdata key from any of the Council’s Customer Service Centres. **ask if the same key or different
    • Customers will pay for the key (non-refundable) as per fees and charges. At the end of each month, an account will be sent for payment based on water usage.
