Title

1.  This notice may be cited as Maranoa Regional Council (Making of Local Law) Website Notice (No. 1) 2019.

Commencement

2.  This notice commences on the date it is published on the website of Maranoa Regional Council.

Making of local law

3.  Maranoa Regional Council (the "Council") has, by resolution dated the 13th day of November 2019, made Animal Management (Amendment) Local Law (No. 1) 2019.

Local law amended

4.  Animal Management (Amendment) Local Law (No. 1) 2019 amends Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011.

Making of subordinate local law

5.  Council has also, by resolution dated the 13th day of November 2019, made subordinate local laws as follows—

(a)  Animal Management (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 1) 2019;

(b)  Animal Management (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 2) 2019.

Subordinate local law amended

6.  Each of Animal Management (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 1) 2019 and Animal Management (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 2) 2019 amend Subordinate Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011.

Local law that authorises a subordinate law to be made

7.  Local Law No. 2 (Animal Management) 2011 authorises the making of each of—

(a)  Animal Management (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 1) 2019; and

(b)  Animal Management (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 2) 2019.

Purpose and general effect

8.  The purpose and general effect of Animal Management (Amendment) Local Law (No. 1) 2019 is to provide for the registration of cats by imposing registration obligations on cat owners.

9.  The purpose and general effect of Animal Management (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 1) 2019 is to prescribe matters which may be specified by subordinate local law about the registration of cats.

10.  The purpose and general effect of Animal Management (Amendment) Subordinate Local Law (No. 2) 2019 is to — 

(a)  prescribe when the keeping of dogs on premises is prohibited; and

(b)  prescribe when an approval is required in respect of the keeping of dogs on premises; and

(c)  identify a dog off-leash area.

Inspection

11.  A copy of the local law referred to in paragraph 3 and each subordinate local law referred to in paragraph 5 may be—

(a)  inspected and purchased at each of Councils Customer Service Centres; and

(b)  viewed by the public on the website of the Department of Local Government.
