Sport and recreation are important to healthy and connected communities.

To encourage participation, Council invests in facilities and organises activities across the region.

We also seek out opportunities to partner with other agencies to create events that promote the wellbeing of our residents.

Programs

Council coordinates a range of events across the Maranoa to encourage involvement in sport and recreation for all ages, including:

  • Queensland Seniors Month is celebrated in October each year, and Maranoa Regional Council gets involved organising a range of activities to facilitate community participation and recognise the important contribution older people make in their families and communities.

In the week's leading up to Seniors Month, Council will publish a full program of events here.
