Tips to ensure your wheelie bin is collected
Council would like to remind residents to be mindful of how much they place in their kerbside bins, following an increase in the number of households overfilling their bins.
Council would like to remind residents to be mindful of how much they place in their kerbside bins, following an increase in the number of households overfilling their bins.
To ensure your bin is collected on your collection day, make sure that:
- You do not overfill your bin
Bins with lids that cannot close, or bins that are over 80 kilograms will not be picked up. The vehicle used to collect the bins cannot lift the bin properly if they are too heavy or overflowing. Additionally, any rubbish that is placed outside of the bin will not be collected.
- Your bin is placed away from other objects (e.g. not near vehicles, trees or power poles).
- Your bin is outside your property by 5am on collection day
When placing your bin kerbside, be sure the bin faces the road (the bin lid should open towards the road and the handles should be facing your property).
Residents are also reminded if they wish to have more than one bin collected, they will need to call Council on 1300 007 662 to arrange additional services.
