Maranoa Local Disaster Management Group is continuing to closely monitor the Balonne Catchment
Due to recent rain events in the Maranoa, and also to the east, further rises are expected in the Condamine-Balonne catchment later in the week.
With further rain forecast for the region over the coming days residents are asked to remain vigilant and continue to listen to forecasts and weather updates.
The Balonne River at Surat is currently around 9.8m metres and falling. Based on the latest warning from the Bureau of Meteorology, the river level is expected to continue easing into the weekend but is likely to remain above the major flood level (9.00 m) for much of the weekend, with renewed river level rises likely to occur from late in the weekend.
Maranoa Regional Council and the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) is on alert and will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend.
Council encourages residents to take caution when travelling in wet weather as a number of roads may still have water over road or closed across the region.
Remember – If it’s flooded, forget it. Visit Council’s Emergency Management Information Dashboard Dashboard (maranoa.qld.gov.au) for the latest updates.
Staff and emergency services personnel have been placed on alert should an emergency response effort be required.
