Construction completed on new bores in Surat and Yuleba

Maranoa Regional Council is pleased to announce the completion of two bores in Surat and Yuleba which will ensure a long-term water supply for the towns.
In Yuleba, the original bore is nearing the end of its useful life. Yuleba's new bore will improve the water pressure in town, and the town's original bore will now be used as a backup water service. Council will announce the official opening of the Yuleba Bore in the coming weeks.
Council is currently waiting on final approval of a water licence for the new Surat bore which will act as a water supply supplement for the town's water allocation when needed.
Mayor Tyson Golder said water is such a vital part of life and water security is needed for all our communities.
"By planning for the future, Council was able to prepare for costs associated with water security and apply for funding opportunities. We thank the Australian Government for seeing the important need for water security in our communities and for committing $1 million to these vital projects," Cr Golder said.
Council would like to thank the Surat and Yuleba communities for their feedback during the community consultation periods last year.
Maranoa Regional Council received $1 million in funding from the Australian Government through the Drought Communities Programme (DCP) Extension for the Maranoa Water Supply Security, Surat and Yuleba Townships Project.
