Mitchell Memorial Park is set to officially re-open this Friday 2 December 2022 at 5.30pm following significant upgrades to the much-loved community space.
Residents are invited to attend the opening and enjoy the festivities of ‘Christmas in the Park’ event immediately following. Organised by the Rotary Club of Mitchell and Booringa Action Group, activities include market stalls, ham wheels, bar & barbecue…and an appearance by Santa himself.
The Mitchell Memorial Park Upgrade Project Includes installation of new equipment and improved playground area, a 24-seater picnic style table and double BBQ with shelter, as well as additional power connections, seating, footpaths and lighting improvements around the park.
A shade structure over the playground area is anticipated to be installed February 2023.
Mayor Tyson Golder said the park is a much-loved meeting place for families and the project enhances the usability of this space for residents and visitors alike. “It’s exciting to officially open the park as I know many of our youth are eager to use the new play equipment and improved space,” Cr Golder said. “I can’t wait to see the many ways that the upgraded space will be used, and what better way to see the park come alive with community activities and events - kicking off with Christmas In The Park”.
