Roma Saleyards supports next generation of graziers at Young Beef Producers Forum
The Roma Saleyards played host to the annual Young Beef Producers Forum that took place over 17 and 18 November 2022 in Roma.
The forum was facilitated to provide under 40-year-old’s a glimpse into the beef industry. Participants were able to hear from industry veterans, network with fellow up-and-coming graziers, and get a behind the scenes look at the day-to-day workings of the Roma Saleyards.
The Roma Saleyards, which has the proud distinction of being the largest cattle selling centre in the country, is a critical economic driver to the beef industry in Australia with over 400,000 cattle passing through each year.
Mayor Tyson Golder said as well as Roma Saleyards being biggest in beef, it has other roles in supporting future generations of young beef producers to network and to hear from industry experts.
“We congratulate Future Farmers Network Chair Queensland Caitlin McConnel, and her team for selecting Roma as a venue to hold the Young Beef Producers Forum. I’d also like to thank all the hardworking organisers and volunteers who put together a very successful event".
“What we have in the Roma Saleyards is a world-class selling centre that provides crucial economic benefit to the region and the country. To be able to link our younger generations in with such a top tier facility will ensure that the Maranoa continues to be a leader in the industry for years to come," said Cr Golder.
