Maranoa Regional Council has congratulated the Sculpture Out Back Exhibition artists, committee and volunteers for being announced as finalists at this year’s Australian Street Art Awards.

The exhibition, which was on display at Roma on Bungil Gallery, is competing for top honours in the ‘Best Street Art Festival or Event’ award category.

The Sculptures Out Back Exhibition allowed artists across the Maranoa region to create and display sculptures in their own unique artistic style and was popular with locals and tourists alike.

Mayor Tyson Golder said the exhibition showed off the great artistic talent that is in the region and has provided a boost to the tourism economy.

“Congratulations to the Roma on Bungil Gallery Sculptures Out Back Roma committee, led by Anne and Ian Galloway, including all subcommittee members and volunteers involved in this amazing exhibition. I believe it will become a nationally recognised festival for sculpture and it’s great to see the local artists actively participating in the event. I also wish everyone involved good luck for the Australian Street Art Award finals,” said Cr Golder.

The Australian Street Art Award winners will be announced via an online event on Friday, 10 February.
