Harmony Week 2023

Maranoa Regional Council is proud to host Harmony Week celebrations with a range of exciting events planned throughout the region from 18 – 24 March 2023.

This year’s Harmony Week theme is “Everyone Belongs” which recognises the diversity of Australians from different backgrounds and brings together individuals and communities to promote inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging.
Mayor Tyson Golder said Harmony Week is an opportunity for the community to come together, learn and appreciate the diversity present in the region.

"We’re very proud of all the different cultures that make up our community and how they work well together to make the Maranoa such a special live,” said Cr Golder.

“Harmony week showcases this beautifully.”

The week-long celebrations will commence on 18 March in Roma with the Harmony in Roma & Roma Butter Factory Twilight Markets. The event will feature multicultural presentations, live music, food trucks and a range of free entertainment including international food tastings, cooking demonstrations, kids activities and a variety of market stalls.

Throughout the week, various cultural workshops, such as stretch and relax classes, Indian cooking classes and kids' kite-making classes will be offered in the surrounding towns including, Surat, Wallumbilla, Injune and Mitchell.

Additionally, businesses in the Maranoa region are encouraged to incorporate the colour orange as a symbol of support for inclusiveness in their operations.

The Queensland Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy has provided funding for this year’s Harmony Week Celebrations through the Maranoa Regional Council Community Support Service.

Workshop bookings can be made by calling Council Customer Service on 1300 007 662.
