Pump Track Construction Commences
Residents are likely to see an increase in activity in the vicinity of the Roma Skatepark as the first stage of the Master Plan for the site moves into the construction phase.
Specialist pump track contractor, World Trail Pty Ltd, has been engaged by Council to deliver a key component of the project on the site opposite the old Hospital in Roma.
Maranoa Regional Council Mayor Tyson Golder said World Trail have a wealth of experience in the design, planning and construction of pump tracks, with over 300km of purpose-built recreational trails in over 20 countries.
The Pump Track project, which is expected to be completed over a 5 – 6 month period, will be delivered by World Trail and local contractors in three distinct components:
- Pump Track – expected to take between 6-8 weeks, with construction scheduled to finish by late June 2023.
- Footpaths, Shade Shelters and Seating – construction is scheduled to commence in July and finish by August/September
- Landscaping and Irrigation – scheduled to start in August/September to be completed by October 2023.
Weather permitting, project works are expected to be completed by October 2023.
Mayor Golder said he is thrilled to see the project moving forward. “Since the initial consultation phase and community feedback received, it is fantastic to see the construction phase of the Pump Track project start to take shape,” Cr Golder said.
“The community has played a major role in helping Council develop a strategy and gain valuable insight into the project.”
“I’d like to thank the community for their participation in the development phase of the project and look forward to seeing all skaters, scooters, bike riders enjoying this socially inclusive recreational venue.”
The site will be fenced off during this construction window, however there will be no disruption to the Roma Skate Park or car parking facilities.
Council would like to thank the community in advance for their cooperation during the construction period and apologises for any inconveniences or disruptions that may occur.
The project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland Program in association with Maranoa Regional Council.
