Blanket drive 2023 part 2

Maranoa Regional Council will start distributing donated blankets and warm clothes to residents - and their pets - on Wednesday, 24 May 2023 from Council’s Customer Service Centres across the region.

In April Council conducted its Annual Winter Blanket and Winter Wear Donation Drive which asked residents to donate blankets and unwanted warmer clothes to community members in need during the cooler months. This year the drive was extended to warmer garments for pets as well.

The drive was very successful, and Mayor Tyson Golder said he was grateful to everyone who contributed.

“Residents in the Maranoa region are generous and kind and that shows in the response to the Winter Blanket Drive initiative. I’d personally like to thank everyone who contributed,” said Cr Golder.

Warmer wear will be available for collection by community members requiring additional support this winter. Collection will be available from Council’s Customer Service Centres in Bendemere, Booringa, Bungil, Roma and Warroo.

Council requests that recipients bring their own bags to collect the wear and to wash pre-loved and handmade blankets before use (cold wash and line drying recommended).
