Lifeflight opening 2023

LifeFlight Australia’s newest multi-million-dollar helicopter base officially opened its hangar doors, with a milestone ceremony at the Roma Airport yesterday morning (Monday, 29 May 2023).

The $3.4-million-dollar facility, which features a hangar large enough to house an AW139 aircraft, will deliver state-of-the-art aeromedical services and infrastructure to regional communities in need of medical assistance.

The new LifeFlight facility was officially opened, with Queensland Senator the Hon. Anthony Chisholm, as Assistant Minister for Education and Regional Development, LifeFlight Australia Board Chair Hon. Jim Elder, LifeFlight Foundation Board Chair Hon. Rob Borbidge AO and LifeFlight South West Regional Advisory Committee Chair Kate Scott unveiling a plaque at the commemorative event.

Mayor Tyson Golder warmly welcomed the 230 guests who attended the LifeFlight opening.

“At all levels, the community of Maranoa has supported LifeFlight in saving lives, with the new state-of-the art facility. This will mean faster retrieval time with this purpose-built centre,” Cr Golder said.

“On behalf of the Maranoa Regional Council, I extend my sincerest congratulations to LifeFlight, we are happy to join you on this remarkable occasion.”

Proudly supported by the Lee Family Group, who recognise LifeFlight as an important partner in ensuring safety and wellbeing within the community, the newly constructed facility will be officially known as the Lee Family and Australian Country Choice LifeFlight Centre.
