New Mitchell bore & reservoir to be switched on

With the completion of Mitchell’s new bore and reservoir, Council’s Water Team is ready to switch the town’s water supply to the new bore.

Residents may notice the taste and smell of the water being slightly more chlorinated than usual as a new and more effective treatment system will be used going forward.

The new treatment system will be undertaken within Queensland and Australian Government guidelines (Queensland Government’s Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008, the Public Health Act 2005 and the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines 2011) to ensure the community receives safe and clean drinking water.
