Maranoa Regional Council appoints Acting CEO

At its first meeting, held on Wednesday, 10 April 2024, Maranoa Regional Council formally acknowledged and accepted the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer Edwina Marks.

Ms Marks had proactively offered her resignation on 28 March, prior to the declaration of the election results.

Council resolved not to require the CEO to serve out the remaining period of her notice but rather be paid in lieu for the balance of the period of her notice.

Mayor Wendy Taylor said that Ms Marks had graciously offered her resignation to facilitate the change and renewal that the recent election heralded and that the decision to bring her departure forward was to provide certainty as the Council embarked on its new term.

“As it was not known how long the search for a permanent replacement would take, it was decided that it was best to proceed with the certainty of a continuing temporary appointment made from within Council’s senior management,” Mayor Taylor said.

“We thank Edwina for the professionalism that she has brought to the role and her dedication to Council service and wish her every success for her future.”

Cameron Hoffmann, Council’s Deputy Director, Strategic Road Management, and a long serving senior manager, will take up the role as Acting CEO on Friday 12 April 2024. He will continue while a search is undertaken for a permanent CEO.

Mr Hoffmann said he had clear priorities that came with his acting appointment.

“I look forward to working with the new Council in the recruitment of a permanent CEO, as well as ensuring the 2024-25 budget can be brought down on time,” Mr Hoffmann said.

“I am confident we can achieve this and, with the support of our team of dedicated staff, we will continue to focus on delivering quality local government services to the Maranoa community.”
