Single-use plastic ban forum in Roma

As of Wednesday, 1 September 2021 a ban on single use plastic was implemented across Queensland as part of the Queensland Government plan to tackle plastic pollution.

This change will affect both businesses and not-for-profit organisations.

Roma will be hosting a forum on Monday, 18 October at 5.30pm – 6.30pm at the Roma Bowls Club, 35 Lovell Street Roma. This forum will provide community groups with information regarding this ban and will be a great opportunity for you to ask questions and have some answers on:

• What items are included in the ban?
• What alternative products can be used?
• How can my group adapt to comply with the ban?

This forum will provide information and an overview of banned items and exempt items. The presentation will also include examples of alternatives that can be utilised by organisations at fundraisers and events e.g., sausage sizzles, catering sports events or holding their own events.
