Maranoa celebrates Seniors with a month of fun
October is Queensland Seniors Month and Maranoa Regional Council is celebrating with a region-wide program of events designed to get your toes tapping and body moving.
Seniors Month is a time to recognise the important contribution older people make in their families and communities.
Councillor Johanne Hancock, Portfolio Chair for Economic Development and Events said this is just one of the regions ways to thank our seniors for the essential roles they play to our towns.
"This month provides us an incredible oppportunity to give back to our seniors and celebrate the tremendous impact they continue to make, while enhancing community connections and fostering intergenerational connections," Cr Hancock said.
"Council has put together a great program for this year, with seniors able to enjoy a variety of activities together."
In addition to the events taking place in this region, Seniors Month includes the United Nations International Day of Older Persons (1 October) and National Grandparents Day (27 October).
