Shop Local to Win

Maranoa residents are being encouraged to support their community by supporting local businesses this festive season.
Maranoa Regional Council’s Local Business Portfolio Spokesperson, Cr Amber Davis, said shopping locally provides positive flow-on benefits for the region.
“Studies show that for every $100 you spend at locally-owned businesses, $68 will stay in the community, compared to sending it of the region,” she said.
“The money you spend locally recirculates through your local economy 2-4 times more than money spent at a non-local company.
“Spending local makes our region stronger, local businesses are tailored to what the community loves and needs because they respond directly to their customers.”
Cr Davis said in addition to benefiting the local economy, local shops do more than just offer products.
“They foster a sense of community and belonging, these are the places where you’re likely to bump into your neighbours,” she said.
“They’re the businesses that sponsor your sporting club, school fundraiser and contribute to the liveability of our region.”
Cr Davis said that supporting the community was just one reason to shop local. Residents also will have the chance to win incredible prizes while doing so.
The Shop Local to Win initiative invites shoppers to spend a minimum of $10 at participating businesses for entry into the prize draw, with the winners to be announced on Friday, 20 December 2024.
The prize pool boasts an impressive lineup, including:
- $2000 Roma Betta Home Living Voucher
- $2000 Home Timber and Hardware Voucher
- $2000 Sunshine Mitre 10 Voucher
- A 2-Night Glamping Escape at Wallaroo Outback Retreat and a Boobook Explore Lost World Carnarvon Day Tour for two people.
“We’re excited to see the community rally behind this campaign and, of course, to celebrate with the lucky winners,” Cr Davis said.
With a wide range of participating businesses across the region, the Shop Local to Win campaign offers plenty of opportunities for residents to get involved.
