Denise Spencer Memorial Pool – Management Agreement

Council considered the Denise Spencer Swimming Pool Management Agreement in line with the redevelopment’s plans. The Denise Spencer Swimming Pool will close from 4 April 2025 in line with the end of School Term One and Injune, Wallumbilla and Surat pools, to enable the redevelopment of the Denise Spencer Aquatic Centre. Council has established a dedicated project page on its website, providing the latest updates and frequently asked questions for the community to stay informed about the pool project.

Request for Policy Development I Enhancement of Community Engagement for Roadworks

Council accepted a proposal to develop policy aimed at improving Council’s engagement with residents on future road work schedules. The policy will focus on improving community consultation via feedback from residents before road works commence. The policy will also include ways to address and incorporate local concerns during planning and execution.

Small Business Month – May 2025

May is Queensland “Small Business Month” and, in consultation with local groups including the Roma Commerce & Tourism Association and the Booringa Action Group, Council will plan initiatives and networking events across the region in support. Efforts will also be made to secure grants, such as the Small Business Grant, to fund these events.

Proposal from Red Ridge Interior QLD Western Touring Circuit

Council discussed its ongoing involvement with the Western Touring Circuit that enables Red Ridge to coordinate and offer arts and cultural programs for the region.  In previous years, the program received support from the Queensland Government. In principle financial contribution was approved for consideration in the 2025/26 financial

Surat Unoccupied State Land

Council moved to decline an offer from the Department of Resources to purchase a portion of State Government water and camping reserve in Surat. Moving forward, council will continue collaborating with local developers to increase private housing stock in Surat and will review the Maranoa Regional Council Queensland Housing Strategy 2021-2025 Local Housing Action Plan at an upcoming briefing.

Annual Review of Delegation of Council Powers to the Position of Chief Executive Officer

Council completed its annual review of delegations to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) under the Local Government Act 2009. A copy of the Register of Delegations can be viewed on Councils website. (Link).

Monthly Financial Report as at 31 December 2024

Council received and noted the Monthly Financial Report for the period ending 31 December. The purpose of these reports is for the Chief Executive Officer to present monthly financial statement to Council in accordance with the Local Government Regulation 2012.

Quarter 2 Operational report

Council received the second quarter report outlining progress towards delivery of the 2024/25 Operation Plan. Under the Local Government Act (2009), Council is required to present written assessments of progress towards implementing the Annual Operation Plan at intervals not exceeding three months.
