Council to Prepare Submission for Queensland Parliamentary Inquiry into Volunteering

The Queensland Parliamentary Inquiry into Volunteering is calling for input on the challenges and opportunities within the volunteer sector, with a focus on organisations in the Maranoa region.
Volunteers play a crucial role in delivering essential services and community programs, but many local organisations are struggling with declining participation, increasing administrative demands, and limited resources.
Council is working with local volunteers to prepare a regional submission to ensure the Maranoa perspective is included in the inquiry.
If you are a local volunteer in the Maranoa and want to have your say, contact your local development officer via ldo@maranoa.qld.gov.au and answer the following questions by Friday, 21 February 2025.
- What are the biggest challenges your organisation faces in recruiting and keeping volunteers?
- What strategies or support do you think would help bring in more volunteers and keep them engaged?
- If you could change one thing to make volunteering easier or more enjoyable, what would it be?
If your volunteer group would like to make an individual submission, or you would like more information, visit HERE. Submissions are open until 28 February 2025.
