Maranoa Regional Council’s Rural Lands Services is partnering with Biosecurity Queensland, AgForce Queensland and BQ Mates Ambassador Brigid Price to host an informational biosecurity awareness event.

To be hosted on Thursday, 27 February, the event is designed to provide local producers with essential information on risk mitigation and response procedures for biosecurity events.

Maranoa Regional Councillor and Portfolio Spokesperson for Rural Services Brendan Seawright noted the importance of proactive engagement with biosecurity processes.

“Biosecurity is everyone’s business and it’s critical that local producers are well-informed and prepared,” Cr Seawright said.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Biosecurity Queensland and other local stakeholders to ensure our region’s producers are equipped with the knowledge and resources they need to protect their operations.”

The informational program will focus on the critical importance of biosecurity for all involved. The session is scheduled to run from 8am to 12pm.

The program is in the final stages of development with a strong emphasis on the critical importance of biosecurity for everyone involved.

Organisers welcome input from local agents and advocacy groups to contribute to this proactive local initiative.

In addition, DPI staff will be available at the event to review Property Identification Codes (PIC) and Registered Biosecurity Entity (RBE) details, ensuring that contact information and property records are up to date.

Rural Lands Services and Biosecurity Queensland are inviting producers to submit questions in advance to ensure that attendees leave the event with a clear understanding of the biosecurity system and their role within it.

Interested attendees are also encouraged to confirm their attendance for catering purposes.

Relevant questions and RSVP attendance can be forwarded to land.management@maranoa.qld.gov.au.
