Maranoa Regional Council today played host to the Queensland Community Renewables Forum

Maranoa Regional Council today played host to the Queensland Community Renewables Forum presented by the Queensland Renewables Energy Council.

Mayor Wendy Taylor said the forum provided an opportunity for the community to learn more about the renewables sector.

“The renewable energy sector is expanding in our broader region and it’s important that Maranoa residents have the opportunity to engage early and understand how these projects may affect them,” Cr Taylor said.

“This forum provided an important opportunity for residents to be informed, ask questions and share their views early in the process.”

Welcoming attendees to the forum Council’s Economic Development Portfolio Spokesperson, Cr Johanne Hancock, said that development needs to be well-planned and well-managed for our region.

“Today is about your right to be fully informed about potential developments that could affect your region and your community,” she said.

“We know from past experience that any development needs to be well-planned and well-managed for our region and today is about ensuring that we all have the information that we need to do that.

“It’s also about ensuring that we have the ability to put forward our views and have our questions answered.”
