Council monitoring the current weather situation

Maranoa Regional Council and the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) are monitoring the current weather situation.

The Local Disaster Management Group convened earlier today and is monitoring conditions across the region.

With further rainfall predicted in the region over the next 12 to 24 hours, residents are asked to remain vigilant with continued rainfall predicted to cause localised flooding. The Eastern Diversion Channel in Roma is running, with Ashburn Road currently closed to all traffic.

Council is asking the community to be prepared and listen to forecasts and weather updates.  Residents are also encouraged to take caution when travelling in wet weather with a number of roads with either water over road or closed, across the region.

Staff and emergency services personnel have been placed on alert should an emergency response effort be required.
