Maranoa has a new Council following today's Declaration of Office ceremony.

Mayor Wendy Taylor is joined by Cr Cameron O'Neil as Deputy Mayor after he was appointed during the Post Election Council Meeting.

During the Council Meeting, Mayor Taylor spoke of the important role that Council plays for the future of the region, and of the commitment of the new Council.

"There are nine people here today who have been chosen by you to give back to your community and I have no doubt they will work hard for you, and with you," she said.

"We are wanting to give back to community with our commitment to work together to achieve the best outcomes for the whole of the Maranoa."
