Council welcomes Rex to the Maranoa
Maranoa Regional Council would like to congratulate Regional Express (Rex) for successfully securing the Central 1 Air Route service between Roma and Brisbane.
As Rex will be operating smaller aircrafts for this route, security screening will no longer be required in the terminal.
Council resolved at a Special Meeting held on 1 December 2021 that 100% of these cost savings will be passed directly onto Rex, reducing their overall fees by 25% for adults and 50% for children.
Deputy Mayor Geoff McMullen said that these flights are important to our community to visit loved ones, travel for medical appointments and for business travel.
“Access to affordable flights to and from Roma is critical to the overall liveability of our region,” Cr McMullen said.
“We are grateful to Minister Mark Bailey and the Department of Transport and Main Roads for supporting the Roma to Brisbane flight route.
“We look forward to working with the Queensland Government and Rex on this valued air service connecting the people of the Maranoa region.”
