SULPHUR CACTUS ALERT - WALLUMBILLA

Back
Sulphur cactus

Sulphur Cactus (Opuntia Sulphurea) is an uncommon and serious invasive plant that has been found in the Wallumbilla district.

Council requires resident's assistance to eradicate this weed from our area. Please inspect your property, and if you find this plant growing on your land or any public areas, immediately contact either Maranoa Regional Council or Biosecurity Queensland via the contact details below.

What happens next?
Council and Biosecurity Queensland staff will survey the area with your permission. These officers will assist the landholder to implement a Biosecurity Plan. The plan will identify the Sulphur Cactus and how to control or manage the weed.

Further information
A Sulphur Cactus information flyer is available here and hard copies are being distributed by Council in the Wallumbilla area. The Rural Lands Officer (Bendemere) and the Biosecurity Officer (Charleville) are happy to assist if residents have any questions or need further information.
