Roadworks

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be starting asphalt works on a number of intersections on the Carnarvon Highway, from 30 November 2023, weather and conditions permitting.

  1. The Carnarvon Highway (St George - Surat) intersections with Alexander, Ivan, Robert and Williams Streets, Surat.
  2. The Carnarvon Highway (Surat - Roma) intersection with Charlotte Street, Surat.
  3. The Carnarvon Highway (St George - Surat) intersection with Wanganui Lane, approximately 51.2km north of St George.
  4. The Carnarvon Highway (Roma - Injune) intersection with Airport Drive, approximately 3.3km north of Roma.
  5. Carnarvon Highway (Roma - Injune) and Airport Drive, approximately 3.3km north of Roma.

Works will be carried out between 6am and 6pm between Monday to Saturday and are expected to be completed by 9 December 2023. Residents and business may experience some disruption to accesses, construction noise, dust and odour while construction is underway, and we will do our best to minimise any impacts.

We will also try to minimise traffic delays as much as possible by using single lane closures, speed restrictions and traffic control. Motorists should slow down, drive carefully and follow the instructions of traffic controllers and construction signage and allow up to an additional 15 minutes for their journey.

Works may restrict wide-load vehicle access and permit holders are asked to check the TMR Conditions of Operation Database before travelling.
