Denise Spencer Memorial Pool Closure Notice

The Denise Spencer Memorial Pool has been closed temporarily to undergo to hyperchlorination process.

As a precautionary measure following a confirmed contact with Cryptosporidium (crypto), we will temporarily be closing the Denise Spencer Memorial Pool for a brief period while we complete a hyperchlorination process.

The pool will be closed until Wednesday morning to enable this to take place.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely apologise for any disruption to your routine however safety and wellbeing is our top priority.

Maranoa Regional Council is working closely with Queensland Health which has recommended this course of action and reminds pool users of the importance of good hygiene, especially when there is cryptosporidium about.

You can help keep our pools safe and available for constant use by following these simple steps:

  • Shower and wash with soap before swimming. Make sure your bottom is clean.
  • Wash your hands with soap after using the toilet or changing a nappy.
  • Only change nappies in nappy change areas.
  • Avoid swallowing pool water.
  • Don’t swim if you have had diarrhoea within the last 14 days.
