Hazard Reduction Burns Mungallala

Maranoa Regional Council advises Mungallala residents that the Queensland Fire and Rescue and the Rural Fire Service Team will be conducting planned burns the region, starting Saturday, 24 August.

Council advises that multiple planned burns will be conducted around the perimeter of the Mungallala township, starting Saturday, 24 August weather conditions permitting.

The fire mitigation measure will allow an excess fuel load to be burnt off around the perimeters of the township in preparation for the upcoming summer months.

It is recommended that windows and doors are kept closed during this time and those who may suffer from a respiratory condition should keep their medication close by.

Smoke can decrease visibility on the roads with motorists urged to drive with caution and to conditions.

Maranoa Regional Council will continue to monitor the site post burn with residual smoke expected in the days after.
