Asphalt upgrades to start on McDowall / Queen Street Roundabout and Charles Street, Roma

Maranoa Regional Council would like to advise residents that asphalt surfacing works will commence on Sunday, 27 October on the McDowall / Queen Street Roundabout.
The works will not include the resurfacing of the entire roundabout, but will focus on the areas that residents may have seen deteriorating over the last few years.
A second crew will commence works on Charles Street, between Bowen and Station Street on approximately Monday, 28 October. These works will see a new asphalt surface added to the entire length of the road from kerb to kerb.
To minimise the impact to residents and businesses in the area, the works have been programmed to be undertaken at night. Works will start from 6:00pm, finishing around 6:00am and are expected to take approximately 5 nights to complete, weather permitting.
Traffic controllers, advance warning signs and detours will be in place to help guide motorists and pedestrians safely around the work site.
Temporary pavement markers will be installed until the permanent line marking is installed. The permanent lines are planned for approximately 3 to 4 weeks after the final surface is laid to help prevent discolouring from the new bitumen.
Council would like to thank the adjoining residents and business for working with Council in the project planning phase of the works. We also thank residents for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience while works are completed.
For more information about the project, please contact Council on 1300 007 662.
These projects are being funded by Maranoa Regional Council, the the McDowall / Queen Street Roundabout being jointly funded by the Australian Government's Roads to Recovery Program.
