Daily cyclone update

Forecasts for wind and rainfall in the Maranoa region remain largely unchanged from yesterday.

Issued: Friday, 7 March 2025, 3:00 PM

As Tropical Cyclone Alfred continues to track slowly towards the southeast Queensland coast, forecasts for wind and rainfall in the Maranoa region remain largely unchanged from yesterday. Winds are expected to peak later today, with localised showers early next week bringing daily totals of 1–5mm.

Since the last update, a Flood Watch has been issued for the Upper Condamine catchment. Council is monitoring the situation and will assess any potential impacts to Surat early next week once upstream rainfall and river levels are clearer.

Some supermarkets across the region are starting to experience lower stock levels on certain items, but deliveries are continuing, and retailers are working hard to restock. Residents can support local businesses and each other by shopping as normal and only purchasing what they need.

The next routine update is planned for 3:00 PM tomorrow.
