Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has continued to weaken as it moves inland, with no significant changes to the rainfall forecast for the Maranoa region. Monday is expected to bring an increase chance of rain, with 5-10mm possible. Showers may continue into Tuesday, though totals are expected to be lower (1–5mm).
Council is continuing to monitor the Flood Watch for the Upper Condamine catchment, with any potential localised river rises in Surat still expected to be at least one to two weeks away. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available from the upper catchments.
This will be the final scheduled update unless major changes or risks arise. Council will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates on an as required.
Maranoa Mayor and Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group, Wendy Taylor, would like to thank residents for their engagement with Council’s updates over the past week:
“We appreciate the community’s feedback on these updates. Given our region’s history of major floods from ex-tropical cyclones, closely monitoring this system and keeping residents informed was a priority for us.”
“I want to acknowledge the dedication of Council staff, emergency services, and volunteers who I know were planned and ready to respond at a moment’s notice, if required. Their preparedness and commitment to our community never go unnoticed.”
“While our region has seen minimal direct impacts, some supermarkets may experience temporary stock shortages as supply chains recover across the state. Retail workers are doing their best to restock, and we encourage everyone to support them during this time."
To stay informed, residents can continue to monitor the Bureau of Meteorology and Council’s Emergency Dashboard for ongoing updates.
